Sell an Auto Repair and Fleet Service Business

Your repair shop sale depends on more than equipment and monthly sales. Buyers need to understand technician coverage, the lease and how much customer work will stay when you step away.

Your lease, technicians and reported repair earnings belong in the same sale discussion. Las Vegas Business Brokers Firm helps start that discussion with an independent valuation partner.

Separate the shop from the owner

Explain who handles diagnostics, service writing, fleet accounts and customer approvals. If you personally fill several roles, show their hours and the cost of replacing them.

Distinguish recurring fleet relationships from occasional repair orders. List contract terms and account concentration without disclosing customer names to unqualified inquiries.

A strong reputation helps start a conversation, but buyers still need reported earnings and a business that can serve customers without relying on the seller every day.

Review the lease before an offer becomes a deadline

Identify the remaining term, renewal language, rent increases and assignment requirements. A location dependent shop can lose a workable deal if landlord approval is treated as a closing day task.

If you own the property, consider the operating business and the building separately. Buyers may price earnings using market rent even when your company currently pays very little.

List lifts, diagnostic equipment and other operating assets with financing details. Equipment age and future replacement needs can affect the cash a buyer believes the shop will generate.

Make the financial story easy to follow

Prepare current monthly results, tax returns and a balance sheet that reflects the assets still in the shop. Explain parts inventory, outstanding repair orders and any work crossing the closing date.

Support each proposed addback with records. An owner draw is not automatically an expense to add back, and proceeds from selling equipment are not recurring repair income.

Keep sensitive records behind buyer screening and an NDA. An initial owner value review can begin without broadcasting the shop name or its fleet relationships.
